I'm here to do the commissioner's job
Here at the Weenie Hut Jr Post Gazette Times New Roman we do more than just be the official
news providers of the league. We also basically do the commissioner’s job. Which is why we are agai
n doing our potential rules changes breakdown and telling you exactly how to vote.
Witzo Bowl Playoff Revamp
After 3 years of enduring the dumbest part of our league, we need to revamp the Witzo (RIP) Bowl Playoffs
presented by Pampers Diapers. The first week only mattering to set the matchups for the semifinals is
meaningless at best, and at worst is strife for causing thrown games. It ruins the integrity of the league and
absolutely needs to change. The only question is how? A 3 game round robin tournament between the 4 teams
may be the fairest, or doing one 2 week matchup whether for the semifinals or finals. Any of those options are
way better than the current situation, so vote with your heart on that one
Verdict: Get rid of the current System
Kicker Points
This fella isn’t the biggest ticket item out there, but it’s more of a logical change. Missed field goals are worth
-1 point. Missed XPs, which are often times much easier, are worth 0. This is quite illogical. The only argument
against this lost point for missed XPs is the fact that a made XP is only worth 1 whereas a field goal is worth a
minimum of 3, so I suppose there’s an argument to not punish XPs as much if there’s less reward. I still think
it makes no sense but I suppose there could be a counter argument.
Verdict: Punish those moron kickers
More Kicker Points
Exact points over 3 and 1 pt per yard for record setting kicks. The exact points one is totally fine and will
make kickers ever so slightly more valuable. It does get rid of those funny moments where your opponent’s
kicker hits a 49 yarder and he starts screaming about how this has ruined his week despite being down 30 with
only Chubba Hubbard left to play, but at the same time I think I was that guy most weeks so this probably
helps me the most. The record setting kick one is very interesting because whoever gets Justin Tucker has the
outside chance of auto winning at any point in the season. The exact one I think
is a nice one to add, not sold for the record setting one but not opposed (do we trust the commissioner to
actually change the scores in a timely manner and get the math right?).
Verdict: Eh why not
Brian’s Kicker Rule
Brian hates kickers and wants to get rid of him. Brian also hates having fun and kicks puppies
Verdict: Brian Sucks
More Brian Rules
PPR. The future of fantasy football to many. Sacrilege to Phil. Will we ever switch to it? Well now that
Phil is in a PPR league he’ll finally get to experience it so once it doesn’t kill him it may be on the table
. However until that point Phil has my family locked in a basement and if I back the vote I may never see
them again.
Verdict: Phil please let them go they’re innocent
The Q Memorial Playoff Spot
Named after the league manager who has managed to accomplish
this one time, the 6th playoff spot would go to the highest scoring team
in the bottom 5, so that way no one gets mega screwed by a bad schedule while scoring a ton. This is interesting
because then we may wanna switch up how the playoff seeding is done, because in a way this could screw
the 3rd seed in the first round. I feel like the 5th seed is often worse than the highest scoring from the bottom
5 more often than not, so this may actually benefit the 4th seed the most. Not only would they likely get the
better first round matchup, but that would then line them up to face the 2nd seed instead of the 1st in the semis
if they win. Maybe let the higher seed decide their matchup between the 5th and 6th seed instead?
Verdict: I would’ve made the playoffs this past season with this so no because next year I’ll get left out
because of it
Revisit the Trade Deadline
Don’t remember why I wrote this but sure.
D/ST Scoring
Brian’s list wants more negative points for defenses, which I don’t quite understand.
If you think about this with video game logic, we would be taking one of the lowest power positions,
and nerfing it? At this point I’m beginning to think Bill Belichik played hide the nickel in the bedsheets
with 6 year old Brian and he hates special teams as a result.
Verdict: Brian get a life
Matchup Tie Breaker
Another one from the list Brian sent. I’m assuming this means use season matchups to determine the
standings tiebreakers? It is definitely a chaos move which I’m not opposed to. Points for is a standard
tiebreaker and rewards teams for longer sustained success, which is nice. The biggest downsides to this rule
would be making it really tough to figure out end of season possibilities if 3 or more teams are still in the mix
, and also if I miss the playoffs due to a rough bye week, I’m going to cut someone’s brakes.
Verdict: Nah

Keepers
Keep up to 3 people but it costs you a draft pick 1-3 rounds higher than where you
took the person (so potentially people picked in the first 1-3 rounds are unkeepable). This is an interesting
to give a little more continuity to your team year-to-year, but it does make it a little tougher for the bad teams
to recover from the year prior. I prefer the full on
redraft model we’ve been going with because any year could be anybody’s year
(except Darrian) and that hope is the only thing that is keeping me alive.
Verdict: Nope
